How to Paint Bubbles
Smart Art Institute Online - Drawing and Painting Art Lessons
You can draw bubbles and paint bubbles with watercolor pencils. Bubbles are fun things to draw for kids and they also happen to be easy things to draw for kids. If you draw some bubbles on a birthday card along with some bubble letters, you are sure to make someone smile with all those bubbles. |

Watercolor pencils are great for drawing bubbles because they make it easy to get the
shading right. Once you understand the steps, it can be a lot of fun to experiment with bubbles of different colors or even drawing objects inside of a bubble. You will need watercolor pencils, a paint brush and some water for this project. Optionally, you might also want a permanent marker.
Now let's get started with the How to Paint Bubbles
step by step drawing tutorial. |
Bubbles Drawing and Painting Tutorial Part 1:
1. Draw some circles (they don't have to be perfect) with a blue watercolor pencil. Make
sure that they are different sizes and that some of them overlap.
|
|
Bubbles Drawing and Painting Tutorial Part 2:
Draw in a shape for the reflection at the top of the bubble. It can be whatever shape
that you choose, but make sure that it is the same shape on each bubble. Mine looks like two thin triangles pointing at one another..
|
|
Bubbles Drawing and Painting Tutorial Part 3:
On the side of the circle opposite of the reflection marks, darken the edge
with your blue watercolor pencil in the shape of a crescent moon. |
|
Bubbles Drawing and Painting Tutorial Part 4:
Make a thin line of purple along the outside edge of the crescent.
|
|
Bubbles Drawing and Painting Tutorial Part 5:
Wet your brush with clear water and blend the color up towards the top of the bubble,
making sure not to color inside of the reflections.
|
|
Bubbles Drawing and Painting Tutorial Part 6:
You want the color to be darker nearest the crescent and lighter towards the reflections.
|
|
Bubbles Drawing and Painting Tutorial Part 7:
Choose a color and fill in the background. If you want, outline your bubbles with a black
permanent marker. |
