Anime is a very popular style of drawing among Americans. Here, I show how to draw an anime boy.

Like any type of drawing, the only way to improve your drawing of anime is to practice, and also experience and observe the art. One anime I focused on while practicing is called "Angel Beats!". Below is a mix between my style, and the style the company used to complete the series mentioned above. Enjoy! ~Maja Thoenes

Suggested art supplies: drawing paper, pencils, markers or colored pencils. Crayons will work fine as well for the cat coloring page you create by drawing Anime Boys!

Now let's get started with "How to Draw Anime Boys."


Anime Boy Drawing 1:

Start by drawing a large circle and a neck. Don't worry about shape; the first step is just for the guide lines.

Anime Boy Drawing 2:

Next, you can start carving out your chin, and connect the neck. The sides of the face are drawn in a sweeping motion. Draw a horizontal line across the middle of the face for the placement of the eyes, and a line down the middle for the nose. Add the eyes, eyelids, eyebrows, nose, and ears. The eyes should be more at an angle slanting towards the middle of the face. The top of the ears should be level with the top of the eyes.

Anime Boy Drawing 3:

For step three, darken the lines you would like to keep from step two in order to distinguish it from step one. Add a bridge and a tip to the nose.

Anime Boy Drawing 4:

In step four, drawn the middle of the eyes, making sure to add shines. Finish up the ears, and add some bangs.

Anime Boy Drawing 5:

Step five includes the hair, eyes, mouth and the details in the ear. If you want to give him a smile, give him more of a smirk-- it makes him look more masculine. Longer strands at the base of the neck are very popular in recent animes.

Anime Boy Drawing 6:

In step six, add some shadows in the hair to give it movement and depth. Broaden the shoulders a bit, too.

Anime Boy Drawing 7:

In step seven, erase the lines you used for the placement of the eyes and nose.
